Puppy Buns in the Oven

Did you know that I have a puppy currently baking in the oven? Okay, that does not sound good at all. What I meant is I have a puppy on the way that is not born yet! My aunt breeds labrador retrievers and she bred her last good bitch in March. I have dibs on a female. Knowing my luck, the whole litter will be males. Not that males are bad, but I have two male horses and that is enough for me. I suppose I prefer the squatter unstead of the leg-lifter. The way I figure it, she should be born the first of May and be ready to take home in July - just in time for my birthday! What a present! My aunt wants me to breed, but the thought is just so scary to me... I don't really know why. Maybe the thought of not being able to sell them makes me nervous. We do have the perfect basement for it, though. I cannot lie to you - the thought is in my head and is still being seriously considered. What do you guys think? I could put the whelping box in the basement with a heat lamp. My aunt sells the pups for $550-650 each. That is a nice chunk of change, but it is not about the money. I guess I just hesitate to bring more dogs in the world with as many that are homeless. Does the world really need my dogs? On the other hand, people are buying labs and why wouldn't I want to supply pups to better the breed? I would be breeding the block-headed registered and certified labradors, so they would not be backyard-bred.
